Demand

SEO for contractors.

Search work is the one thing we sell that keeps bringing in work after you stop paying for it. Every page it builds adds to the ones before, so each month is worth more than the last.

Businesses we have worked with

  • Duradek
  • Siteline Deck and Rail
  • Northwest Drainage Solutions
  • IronOak Developments
  • Key and Lock Solutions
  • Forest City Eavestrough
  • Sterling Excavation
  • High Line Tree Service

The short answer

What is SEO for contractors?

SEO for contractors is the work of earning a position in search results for the jobs a trades business wants, by building pages that answer what customers actually type and linking them so they rank as a group. It is bought for the months after the next one, because a position takes time to earn and does not disappear when the invoice stops.

What a month of it builds
The page that sells
The service you want more of.
The articles around it
The questions people ask before they buy it, each linking back.

What actually decides it

Five things decide whether search work pays.

Get these right and every month of it builds on the one before.

  • It keeps running. Search work compounds, and it only compounds for as long as it goes on.
  • People in your area are searching for the work at all. Some trades are almost entirely word of mouth.
  • The site can be found and read by a search engine, which is why we only do this on sites we built.
  • Every service you sell has a page of its own, rather than one page listing all of them.
  • Something is published every month. Search work that stops is search work that decays.

What you actually get

A number, not "ongoing SEO".

"Ongoing SEO" is what most agencies sell, and it is a phrase that survives a month where nothing was published. What we sell is a count of new articles, published on your site, written from how you talk about the work. Rewrites of pages you already have are capped at a quarter of the count and come out of it, never on top, so the number is new work.

  • Solo

    8 articles a month

  • Crew

    12 articles a month

  • Company

    16 articles a month

If a month genuinely cannot reach the count, you are told the number reached and why, rather than the month being padded with rewrites to look full.

Straight off Search Console

What three months of it looks like.

Google's own figures for two sites we built and did the search work on, over the three months each capture covers. Clicks are people who arrived from a search result nobody paid for.

  • Google Search Console for Northwest Drainage Solutions over three months: 834 clicks and 70,700 impressions

Three months from 11 May 2025

Northwest Drainage Solutions. 834 clicks from 70,700 impressions.

  • Google Search Console for Siteline Deck and Rail over three months: 531 clicks and 21,800 impressions

Three months from 21 June 2026

Siteline Deck and Rail. 531 clicks from 21,800 impressions.

The average position on both, 40.6 and 20.7, is an average across every search a site shows up for, including hundreds nobody was aiming at. It is not the position for the jobs that matter, and it is why clicks are the line worth reading. Neither number is a promise about yours.

Where this sits

Search work is what lets the ad budget come down.

Ads bring in work while you pay for them. Search work keeps bringing it in, and the more it builds, the less of your budget has to go to ads.

  1. What it earns

Position for the jobs you want, built from pages that answer what people type before they hire.

  2. What carries you meanwhile

Paid search and social bring work now while this is being built. The usual order is ads first, search work underneath.

  3. What it needs

A site we built, something published every month, and the months to build on each other.

Before we write a word

We write down how you talk. Then we write everything else.

We write one of these for every client. We sit down with you, listen to how you actually describe the job, and write it down. Your site, your ads and every follow-up get written from it, which is why they sound like you and not like an agency wrote them.

What it costs

What search work costs, with the system it runs on.

Search work is sold on sites we built. It can be bought on its own there, and we quote it, but a system is the better buy. The price of every system is public.

Solo

$1,500 to build, then$750/month

A site, a system that catches every call, and content every month, so the work you already attract stops slipping away.

For: An owner-operator who needs to be found, and to stop losing the calls they already get.

Crew

$1,750 to build, then$2,000/month

Everything in Solo on a bigger site, plus your Google profile and one ad platform run for you.

For: An owner-run business already busy, with an average job around $2,000 or more.

Company

$1,750 to build, then$3,500/month

Both ad platforms, the top content tier, and campaigns back out to the customers you already have.

For: Shops running a real crew, and Crew clients ready for step two.

The work

Sites we built, and what we did on each.

Every one is a real business, not a template with a logo dropped in. We have built for deck and rail, eavestrough and septic companies, and the trade decides the language and the photos. The system underneath is the same one every time.

Before you ask

What owners ask us about search work.

How long before it does anything?

Not as long as most owners expect, but it is not fast the way ads are. Ads can bring in enquiries within days of going live; search work builds over months, and each month adds to the last. That is why we usually put paid search or social ads alongside it at the start, so you have work coming in while it builds.

Will you get me to number one?

No, and nobody can promise that. What we can say is what gets published, on what schedule, and what it is aimed at. Anyone quoting you a position is selling something they do not control.

Can you do this on the site I already have?

Only on sites we built. Search work on somebody else's build means inheriting decisions we cannot see and arguing later about whose fault a result is. If the site is the problem, the honest first step is the site, not articles pointed at it.

Who writes the articles?

We do, from a voice document we write with you first, so the pages sound like your business rather than like an agency. You see them before they go up.

What if a month is thin?

You are told the number reached and the reason, rather than the month being filled out with rewrites of pages you already have.

Is this worth it for my trade?

Not always. Some trades are almost entirely word of mouth and referral, and the searches simply are not there in the volume that would pay for this. We will tell you if we think yours is one of them.

See what it costs.

Three systems, every price on the page, and what is in each one. Search work is the part that compounds, so the sooner it starts the less the ad budget has to carry later.
